Special Announcement - Dec 20, 2008

Well everyone the years end is almost upon us. Tara and I are flying out to visit family soon. This year has been a big one for me professionally, creatively, spiritually, and personally. This past month we've been blessed with so much good news. From the Olay project to the Marketing Award... so this being said I want to cap off the year with a special announcement. Tara and I are going to be parents the end of April 2009! I know this Blog has focused mostly on the business end of Atomic Clock but as time has gone by I like letting everyone peak behind the curtain to the other big part of my life. So I'm sure in the future you will start seeing mentions of "Baby Padley" from time to time.

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!

Marketing Magazine Gold Award - Dec 9, 2008

What a week. Earlier today I got a call from Bevan Friedman of Rogers Media Solutions. Bevan tells me that the IBM Video Series we created earlier in the year helped them with a Gold Award from Marketing Magazine. There's a ton of credit to go around here. What Atomic Clock created was one of half a dozen components ranging from a online forum to a series of interviews with Canadian Business Magazine which was a complete program for IBM. Congratulations to Rogers and their team who were fantastic to work with.

Special thanks for Jeff Barlow for all your support!

Olay Pro X Commercials - Dec 3, 2008

Well I have some big news I've been keeping under wraps for about a month now. I've been asked to Direct 3 commercials for the new national launch of Olay Pro X. This is a huge deal for everyone at Atomic Clock and what we've been working towards for the past 5 years. I have to take a minute to thank Tara my beautiful wife for all of her support since the very start.

Dear EM Music Video Shoot - Nov 29, 2008

Saturday morning come down. The Daniela Nardi shoot was amazing. We shot a half a dozen locations... each and every team member did a stunning job. Thanks to Tim for such great camera work, Michelle for beautiful styling, Maddox for subtle / glorious make up, Kevin for the best go to guy you could wish for, and most importantly Daniela for being such a good sport and being so patient between takes.
The day started at 5AM. The majority of the crew met at my house in High Park. From there we all piled into our cars and headed to the Stoney Creek area. Since our intent was to light with natural light with a bit of reflected fill all our hearts began to sink when it started to rain on route. But the film god's were with us that day and the rain stopped just before we reached our first location... a Drive In north of Hamilton. Daniela was totally committed from the first take and gave performances full of warmth and longing. From there we visited fields, abandoned farms, forests, and mystic garden. When we reached our last location it started to snow. And instead of calling it a day we decided to do a few takes. Daniela after a long day of my song and dance delivered takes that simply went to another place. WOW, what a shoot.

Daniela Nardi and Dear EM - Nov 22, 2008

If you read this Blog you know I Directed a live video for the wonderful Daniela Nardi a month or so ago. As time has gone by Daniela and I have become good friends and discovered we have a ton in common. When I sat down for the first time to listen to her second album "The Tattoo Rose" I was gobsmacked by the song "Dear EM". Anyone who knows us here at ACCA knows my Dad passed away earlier this year. My Dad was one of the finest people I've ever met and the template for me which to measure myself against. Daniela's song "Dear EM" instantly became a cathartic point for me and I found myself listening to it daily. After about a week images around the song started to form in my mind. It was then I picked up the phone and offered to shoot a Music Video for "Dear EM".... thankfully Daniela loved the concept I was outlining and jumped right on board. So right now we are pulling together a team worthy of making this video a "feast for the eyes". Well not really. What I'm going for is something in the Black and White vibe... Kodak T Max 400 is my style reference. We are going to take a keep it simple approach. Shoot a performance driven video at various outdoor locations. Tim Dashwood has agreed to come on board as Cinematographer and Michelle Paiano is going to be doing the Styling.
I can't tell you how excited I am to be doing this project... and honored Daniela is letting us hopefully do justice to a wonderful song.
You can find her on the web here...

Microsoft & LUSH - Nov 20, 2008

On another note...
LUSH Magazine Promo

LFW Day 5 - Oct 24, 2008

Day 5 of L'Oreal Fashion Week. It's been a very long day. Malina-Mae Harlington's show was wonderful. Covering her collections for the past 2 seasons has been a honor. Lucian Matis continues his upward trajectory. And lastly Denis Gagnon show, his work was a highlight for me this week. The design's were so fashion forward I suggest you check him out if you haven't already. Now the real work starts for us. We have 20+ full shows to cut together for the designers and create a handful of EPK's in the next 4 weeks.

LFW Day 4 - Oct 23, 2008

Day 4 of L'Oreal Fashion Week. This is Atomic Clock Cinematic Arts 5th season covering LFW. Since my first season in the Press Gallery I've described it as running a marathon in a hurricane. The amount of footage my team shoots, logs, and edits during the week is staggering. So thanks to Tara for keeping me sane. Kevin for the best 2nd Angle out there. And Alon for the great edits. So today Evan and Dean left them cheering. Morales dropped jaws. RUDSAK always the antithesis of chic. GSUS the heart and soul of street cool - great show Charlotte & Everton!

And again I remind everyone you can see the shows online at www.lorealfasionweek.ca

LFW Day 3 - Oct 22, 2008

Day 3 of L'Oreal Fashion Week. So thing are different this season. Now we have the Main Tent and the new Studio Tent. This set up has worked perfectly. I think the Robin Kay and the entire FDCC team do a mind blowing job. Today I caught the Zoran Dobric show. Over the past 3 years I've had the pleasure of watching Zoran's work mature into a knock out of a collection this season. Then Andy The-Anh did the unexpected. His new collection took on a new direction but still was infused with all the wonderful things that makes Andy, Andy. Lastly there was Joe Fresh Style. Like everyone it's hard to fathom how so much style can be had for such a affordable price point. Joe Mimran is the total package when it comes to Design + Business.

LFW Day 2 - Oct 21, 2008

Day 2 of L'Oreal Fashion Week. I have to say the crowds were pumped today. I've never seen the tents so crowded. The Aqua Di Lara show was incredibly sexy. The Joeffer Caoc show dripped with elegance. The Bustle show was style, style, style. And David Dixon? David was his impeccable self. In my mind he's the most consistently brilliant designer working in Canada.

LFW Day 1 - Oct 20, 2008

Day 1 of L'Oreal Fashion Week. The Pink Tartan and Mango Collections were amazing! George Pimentel was working his razzle / dazzle. It's great watching him work. His report with his clients is world class.

So head on over to www.lorealfasionweek.ca to see the all the video's we are producing of each and everyone of the collections.

Bustle 2009 Promo - Oct 10, 2008

We've just wrapped the Bustle Menswear 2009 Promo. It couldn't have turned out any closer to my initial vision. We can't post the video yet. You'll have to wait until the new year. But let me say thanks to Tara for helping me make it happen, Kevin for giving me awesome shots, Alon for a incredible cut. Daniel for outstanding modeling, and most importantly Shawn and Ruth of Bustle for the amazing support.

Here are a couple screen grabs to tantalize you. The video won't be available until Spring 2009!

LFW Update October 1, 2008

Well we have another L'Oreal Fashion Week right around the corner. We are currently in pre-production organizing our team... you know the drill, crossing the t's and dotting the i's. This season we are doing FDCC coverage for the largest amount of designers we've ever done. This season we are psyched to see what Pink Tartan, Joe Fresh, Denis Gagnon, Bustle, RUDSAK, and GSUS show. Plus once you throw in up and comers Carlie Wong and Evan Biddell it's going to be a amazing week.

TIFF Final Day - Sept 9, 2008

Our last day of TIFF. We had the opportunity to interview both Benicio Del Toro and Philip Seymour Hoffman today. They were both exceptionally open and gracious with all the Press Gallery.

Meeting Guillermo del Toro - Sept 8, 2008

Me and the AWESOME Director Guillermo del Toro of Hellboy I & II, Pan's Labyrinth, The Devils Backbone, Blade II, Chronos... plus the up coming Hobbit movie

TIFF Day Three - Sept 7, 2008

Shot "The Dutchess" Red Carpet today. Kira Knightley was simply wonderful. Sarah Jay got a dynamite interview with her. Also shot Viggo Mortensen, Benicio Del Toro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Edward Norton later in the day.

From the following day's Toronto Star.

TIFF Day Two - Sept 6, 2008

Day #2 of TIFF. I have to say everyone in the Press Galleries are great. Sure there is the occasional jackass but all in all everyone works together to get great footage and interviews for everyone. Shot the Red Carpet for "Rachel Getting Married" earlier today. Jonathan Demme was far and away the most incredibly honest and intelligent people I've ever met. And Anne Hathaway is a total star. Sarah got great interviews with both of them that WireImage are going to love.

Unrelated Note...

We in the Atomic Clock family would like to congratulate our good friends Jay and Tania Shaw on their wedding today! Love you guys!

TIFF Day One Sept - 5, 2008

Day #1 of TIFF. Myself and the team are stoked. We covered the "Burn After Reading" Red Carpet tonight. Brad Pitt was BRAD PITT. The very spitting image of Sinatra cool. It was total chaos in the Media Gallery. We certainly hope every Gala is not like this.

Atomic Clock Covers TIFF - Sept 1, 2008

So the Toronto International Film Festival starts in a couple days. Atomic Clock has be contracted to do all the Red Carpet shoots for WireImage out of LA. This is a huge undertaking for us and we couldn't be more excited about being WireImage's exclusive video provider. Special thanks to George Pimentel.

Bustle Shoot - Aug 30, 2008

The Bustle shoot went amazing. The whole team brought there A Game. Once we'd set up the first shot and did a couple takes we all stood back and watched the playback. It was right then and there we all knew we were working on something that had the potential to be special. From that point we all kicked it up a notch. Great work Shawn, Kevin, and the Bustle Team. And a special thanks to our model Daniela who was outstanding! This gig was one of the most creativity gratifying projects I've ever worked on.

Here's a couple frame grab's from the shoot...

Bustle Tech Scout - Aug 25, 2008

Kevin and I did the Bustle Tech Scout today. The location is over the top. This space is so beautifully ugly it's hard to put into words. You'll have to wait and see.

Hermès Grand Opening - Aug 19, 2008

The Hermès job is wrapped. What a great experience. Special thanks to Jennifer Carter and her team at Hermès who were incredible to work with. Also a very special thank you to Rodney Smith - Merchandizer supreme. Last night's Opening and Media Cocktail was an amazing event.

At the opening of the NEW Toronto Hermes with Christian Blanckaert - Hermès Executive Vice-President and Jeanie Becker - Fashion Television Host.

Discovering Daniel Mazzucco - Aug 14, 2008

Shawn Hewson from Bustle introduced me today to model Daniel Mazzucco. One word. WOW. Not only is his book world class but he has a full length beard. Daniel is exactly what we are looking for and has signed on to star in the Bustle Promo Video. Now onto sorting the storyboard and doing the location scout.

Hermès Hires Atomic Clock - Aug 12, 2008

We've started shooting a massive project for Hermès. Canadian President Jennifer Carter has given us total access to the creation of their NEW Toronto store. I have to say what a staggering amount of thought and craftsmanship that's going into this build. Being hired to work with such a prestigious brand is a total compliment and honor.

Bustle Menswear Promo - Aug 8, 2008

Met with Shawn Hewson of Bustle Menswear today. He loves the concept we've put forward for their 2009 Promo Video. We are going for something much more European in it's vibe and less Mainstream North American... which is fantastic. Now to find the perfect model. That's where things getting sticky. From the very first genesis of the idea I could see a bearded model in my head. Believe me when I say there aren't many models with beards in Toronto.

Rimmel / GLOW Video - Aug 1, 2008
